Rehearsal Dinner

Just because the name of the event is "rehearsal dinner" doesn't mean it has to be a formal dinner or even a dinner. You can plan an afternoon event if you'll be getting up on the early side or you can plan a themed event, which is great for weddings where a lot of guests have traveled to be there - destination wedding or not.

Think about what your interests are and what you think your guests will enjoy.

You can make it a tournament if your guests are sports enthusiasts: football, baseball, basketball, volleyball, etc...

You can make it a movie night and rent a movie theatre or a screening room at the hotel. Don't make it a film about the two of you. Pick a favorite or a theme that compliments the wedding.

You can plan a casino night or a day of fishing and rent a boat.

So when planning your rehearsal dinner get creative. You can still have toasts or roasts to the happy couple and hand out thank you gifts to the bridal party whatever setting you choose.

What a sweet night!
Phil Joeckel if you see this blog all I have to said great job last night! You and your talented team put up one more time another great event.

Last night the Orlando Wedding Professionals launched their newest issue of the OWP Bridal Directory. This event took place at the Westin Hotel in Lake Marry. This was an opportunity for the best of the best in the industry to preview the magazine before it was release to the public.

The candyland theme for this event went fabulous!

Lots of yummy sweet from cupcakes, whimsical cakes, fruit cover with chocolates, candy buffets, Italian gourmet gelato, you name it!

My friend Ryan and I have a great time at the event...

Pancakes Recipe!

Ok, it's Monday morning and I'm ready to start another day and another new week...And believe it or not I wake up craving pancakes this morning... I know, it may sound silly but I would love to get some pancakes for breakfast...So before I hit to my kitchen let me share my favorite pancake recipe.
Ingredients
·3/4 cup milk

·2 tablespoons white vinegar

·1 cup all-purpose flour

·2 tablespoons white sugar

·1 teaspoon baking powder

·1/2 teaspoon baking soda

·1/2 teaspoon salt

·1 egg

·2 tablespoons butter, melted

·cooking spray

·1 perfectly ripe banana
3 strawberries

Directions
1.Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Whisk egg and butter into “soured” milk. Pour the flour mixture into the wet ingredients and whisk until lumps are gone.

2.Heat a large skillet over medium heat, and coat with cooking spray. Pour 1/4 cupfuls of batter onto the skillet, and cook until bubbles appear on the surface. Flip with a spatula, and cook until browned on the other side.

3.Top with bananas, strawberries, real maple syrup and some fresh whipped cream.

This pancake recipe will set the stage for a loving and romantic day with your significant other. I hope that you enjoy!

Where to cut the guest list!

After you've gotten a basic idea for how you want your wedding to go, you then have to make the guest list. You'll be including family members, friends, relatives, work acquaintances, and many others. The problem is that you can't keep everyone on that list, even if you have an unlimited budget.

When you’re making up your guest list think about setting some guidelines for yourself as to where to draw the line: Singles with no guests, only first cousins, no work colleagues. And where to make exceptions: Singles in the bridal party can bring a date; the only single friend in a group of friends can bring a date.

While many people will ask you when your wedding is an tell you they are excited for the big day it’s up to you and your groom, and your budget, to decide who is on that final guest list. Don’t add someone who you don’t want there because they think they’ll be invited. And definitely don’t add people you can’t afford to have.

It’s okay to tell people that you’re sorry but you’ve decided to limit the guest list to close family you may offend them if you say “and close friends” if they think they are one. People will understand that the list has to get cut somewhere.

Making your invitation list shouldn't feel like a burden. At the end of the day, you want to look at your list and see all the people that you care about and want to share this happy day with. And it's your day and your time, so don't let anyone else talk you into inviting people that you're not too keen on.

Happy Earth Day!

Each year April 22 is set aside as a day to honor our planet, so I want to share this beautiful inspiration poem from Ria Coleto Cervantes on today’s celebration of Earth Day!

The colors of the world

I see the sky
And it's all blue,
Like the ocean with its azure hue.

I see the trees
And it's all green
With the verdant leaves on the brim.

I see the sun
And how it glowed!
Like a golden ring on a distant slope.

I see a land
With the warm shades of brown,
Which echoes warmth all around.

And I see folks like you and me.
We are part of this mystery.
The colors are rich with variety
Of people, plants, animals and nature's elements in a mould.
For these are the colors of the world.

DIY Pom-Poms Flowers

I’m going to be crafty today and show you how to do a pom-pom flower. I know you may think this is kids-craft but is not, I have seen many brides using pom-pom flowers as part of their décor for their bridal shower, tea party or for any fun celebration.

Pom-pom flowers are fun, colorful and they even have an elegant minimalist quality about them…

What you’ll need for one 5” flower:

4 pieces of tissue paper, 10”x5”

18” piece of thing wire, floral or any other type

Scissors

Stock the four sheets of tissue on top of each other. Make 3/8” accordion folds, creasing after each fold. I find it easiest to make one fold, flip it over, make the other, and repeat, so you are always folding up away from you and it’s easy to see.

Fold the 18”piece of wire in half and slip over the center of the folded tissue. Twist the bottom closed. Using sharp scissors, trim the ends of the paper into rounded or pointy shapes. I chose rounded for this one.

Separate the four tissues layers, one at a time until the flower begins to take shape. Depending on what you will use them for, you can keep the bottom flat or you can puff them into a ball for hanging.

You can use these flowers just about anywhere!

Garter History

Tossing the wedding garter is an old time held tradition. It is said that in the days gone past, the bride and groom had to show proof of their wedding consummation. In order for it to be proven, it was common tradition to have people like family and friends come into the room with the couple. The "witnesses" would obtain the garter as "proof" of the consummation. Also having any article of the under garments was considered to be good luck so sometimes things would get out of hand in the newly wed's bedroom as crazed onlookers snatched at clothing to get for good luck. This was not appreciated much by the bride or many grooms; hence the groom started tossing the garter out so that no one would need to obtain it themselves.
(How barbaric this sounds! glad things have changed since then)

Because of modesty, this tradition has been modified and moved from the bedroom to the reception. Now today we have the traditional garter toss, which is meant to bring good luck to the man who catches it. He is said to be the next one to marry. In some cultures the men stand and wait for the garter to be tossed. Other cultures they actually compete for it. The men may compete for the garter in a foot race or by horse (this is a medieval practice). At least it is better than having the men chase the bride and put her upside down to get the garter off... This is what used to happen! In yet other places, they even auction the garter off. As strange as these twists on the wedding garter tradition may sound, it's all just a tradition. Take it or leave it.
Or should I say "Take it or Toss it!”
